Hurricane Ridge
July 30, 2009

The 17 mile road up to the crest of Hurricane Ridge starts at about sea level and climbs to 5, 242 feet.

We will start at the Visitor Center and work our way down the mountain.

From the Visitor Center, you get a great view of Carrie Glacier atop the 6,995 foot tall Mt. Carrie mountain.

One of the bald mountains on the way down.  Note the yellow wild flowers.

At the higher elevations, there were lots of wild flowers in bloom.

More wild flowers along the roadway.

This side of the Park only gets about 20 inches of rain a year and July is in the dry season, so water falls are rare.

To see more of Hurricane Ridge and the wild flowers, visit my Picasa albums.    Large  or small
