Zion National Park, Kolob Terrace,

This will be the last post from Zion.  Kolob Terrace is probably the most least visited area of Zion.   The entrance is in the town of Virgin, about  20 miles west of the Springdale, UT entrance.   The elevation of Virgin is 3,600 ft.   The end of the paved road at Kolob Terrace Reservoir is over 8,100ft with tall hills still surrounding the Lake.

A large forest fire has consumed a lot of the cedar trees around the entrance.

As with the rest of Zion, It's about mountains and canyons.

It is just amazing how the rocks have been sculptured.

We came across this waterfall after we had gotten up on the Terrace.  Elevation around 7,500ft.

Just one of the clumps of flowers in one of the meadows on the Terrace.

Kolob Terrace Reservoir is outside the Park and is a square mile in size.  The area around the lake has several
summer homes.   Winter snows close the road until the spring thaw.

You can see more pictures of this outing in my Picasa Albums.
