We get an early start today for a trip to the "Racetrack", Ubehebe Crater and Scotty's Castle.  The round trip is to be about 150 miles.   In case you did not know it,  Death Valley National Park is huge!!!   We get to the turn off for the Racetrack and start our 54 mile round trip.  I knew that the road was going to be gravel and rough.  BUT....I did not know how rough it was going to be.  After a couple of miles of creeping along at 5 mph, I decided that I have had enough and turned around and headed for Ubehebe Crater.   The crater was supposed to have erupted about 3000 years ago.  It is over 500 feet deep.

After viewing the Crater, we head on to Scotty's Castle.

We have lunch at Scotty's Castle and then head back to our Campground, stopping along the way to view the
sand dunes located within sight of were we are camping.
