Monument Valley, Navajo Tribal Park, Utah
April 23-24, 2008

We spent the last couple of day enjoying the views of Monument Valley.  Most of you know that the Valley was made famous by the movie director, John Ford with film star John Wayne.

We drove the 17 mile loop road twice.  Both morning and late evening.  The sun lights up the rock formations differently as the it crosses the sky.

^This is the view looking out through the windshield.  It doesn't get any better.

^We have stayed in places with a great view, but I think that this has to be the best.

^I set the alarm wrong and almost missed the sunrise.

^A view of the "Mittens" taken in the evening looking west.  The west mitten is larger the the east mitten.

^One of the small dunes.  The sand is almost as fine as powder.  While we were here, it was quite
windy and we got dust over everything.

^This rock formation is called "Totem Pole"  Best seen the the late evening when the sun is shinning
on them.

If you would like to see some more pictures of the Valley, you can go to the Links Window and click
either large or small.
