The drive to Gunnison from Canon City yesterday was wet....It rained most of the day. I was really disappointed as I was looking forward to seeing the view as I drove over the 11,000 plus foot, Monarch Pass. Oh, Well, I will just have to drive back in the Jeep. It stopped raining sometime during the night. This morning started off cloudy and cool--well lets be honest, COLD. It cleared up before lunch so Margie and I decided to take a short day trip over to Crested Butte, just north of Gunnison, to see if we could find any Aspen trees turning yellow. It didn't take long. Here are some.

^The town of Crested Butte lies at the base of the mountain.

^This is the Slate river upstream of Mt. Crested Bute. Crooked, isn't it?

^I don't know the names, but these mountains are north of
Mt. Crested Butte, CO. It snowed last night. The first of the season.
All the tall peaks had some snow. These were the nearest to us.
