The day started of with a heavy overcast with a 40% chance of rain. We waited until lunch time for it to start. It never rained. In fact it cleared up. We decided to explore some of the country side. From Canon City, we drove north about 10 miles on Shelf Road toward Cripple Creek, CO. Near the end of the paved road is Red Canyon Park. This is 500 acre park with large red rock formations and some spires over 100ft tall. The roads thru the park are gravel and rutted in places. 4 wheel drive is recomended.
