We drove down to Tittusville, FL to see the launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, STS-117.  We watched the launch from Kennedy Point Park.  This is a Tittusville city park located near the junction of US 1 and SR 50.  We arrived around 3 pm and several people were already gathered there.  By the time of the launch at 7:30 pm there were several hundred.  We were real fortunate to get a spot on the walkway along the Indian River Lagoon.  From our site, you could see the shuttle on pad 39a, about 12 miles across the Indian River.

We spent the time until the launch enjoying the fellowship of the people around us and watching the porpoises and manatees in the Indian River.

I have some pictures here.  The rest can be found in "My Yahoo pictures".  Scroll down to Atlantis.
